Pathway MR-20 Dual Channel sEMG
Pathway MR-20
The Pathway MR-20 Surface EMG is a dual channel biofeedback system that allows the clinician to observe the behavior of muscle. In the hands of a properly trained clinician surface EMG biofeedback is a powerful tool used to:
- Calm hypertonic muscle
- Up Train weak or atrophied muscle
- Understand the coordination of up to two muscle groups with relation to movement.
Surface EMG biofeedback has long been used in the behavioral setting for:
- TMJ
- Headache
- Down Regulation (Relaxation training)
First used by early adopters in Rehab medicine in the 1970’s & 80’s, surface EMG biofeedback started to take hold in rehab in the early 1990’s as part of the McConnell taping protocol for patellofemoral pain. Since adopted, surface EMG biofeedback has been used in a variety of applications by the rehab professionals but no other application has benefited more profoundly then then the pelvic floor physical therapist.
Emerging through the APTA section on Women’s Health and later through the Herman & Wallace institute surface EMG has been a staple item in the Pelvic Floor Physical Therapists toolbox. From downtraining hypertonic muscle or up training weak muscle to evaluating the relationships of agonist and antagonist muscle groups allowing the pelvic floor therapist to evaluate and treat a variety of issues pertaining to:
- Pelvic Pain
- Incontinence (Bowel & Bladder)
- Chronic Constipation
- Sexual dysfunction
The MR-20 is a handheld dual channel surface EMG instrument. As a standalone device, it offers the clinician the ability to set goals for either up training or down training patient muscle. The MR-20 can be set up to que the patient between work and rest sets to work both slow and fast twitch muscle fibers. The LCD screen displays the patients EMG activity including goals and success.
Training on the MR-20 is offered free to Current Medical Technologies customers!
